Apel !! - nie ratujcie Marzanny

(too complicated to explain)

OK, English explanation:
Marzanna - doll made of old clothes - is old traditional symbol of winter and every year people (mostly children) are dunking her to end winter and start spring.
This year... winter is still here.
Title means:
"Do not rescue Marzanna".....

Shoes

Po polsku było o butach tu:
http://ps1560.blogspot.com/2012/07/jakie-buty.html

As there is post on Project 350km about shoes and there was a post here about shoes. I decided to translate it or rather write it again in English.

While looking for shoes for trekking/hiking/backpacking activities
every person comming to shoe shop can say - "my feet is non standard".

Mass production defined shoe numbers for feet length but each feet with same length is different.
Shoes are extremely individual so it's hard to give an advise but I can share my opinions based on my  experience.
I'm not fan of membrane in shoes, mostly cause when your shoes are dirty or completely wet - membrane is not working.

Best breathable material for shoes is leather even when wet and dirty.
There are multiple models based on Cordura.
Cordura has one huge disadvantage, is not elastic and is not forming to Your feets.
There was once, ages ago, when Cordura was OK for me, but producer changed designer and now I can't find such shes which are OK for me.

So, let's stay with leather shoes,

Assuming that we bought nice leather hiking shoes, what's next ?
Some of people are putting some water repellent on it and store them in wardrobe.
This is not the best idea.
I would advise to put them in water for a night, put some stones over it.
Next day - using two pairs of socks - put them on and walk a fewe hours until they are dry.
If they are not dry day after next day - do the same.
When dry - put water repellant on then some shoe wax.
Your trekking shoes are ready :)
All above was to make them perfect for Your feets in fastest possible way.

There is second way to prepare shoes for trekking/hiking.
You need to wear them for a few months every day.

Nagroda na wiosnę 2013 Gear of the Show

http://vapur.us/

I don't know if you know Vapur, probably not as they operate on the other side of the ocean.
I would advice to check. They made very good water filter for foldable bottle and received prize for this.

Project 350km - eng.

Preparations
Many people thinks, that walking 350 km with disposable bad as a storage sounds easy.
There were many cases in history of people walking longer distances with lower amount of things.
TIME
The plan is to perform it as fast as possible in time lower than 10 days.
Winter record for this trail is 7 days and 45 minutes.
UL - ULTRA LIGHT
As you know project assumes no backpack policy, I'll post article about ultralight backpack very soon.
Sleeping bag - for this project guys are assuming 1 kg or less.
Instead of tent they'll get military ponchos (500g)
There will be set of about particular things taken

I'm not attaching separate link to post on project page as  FB is showing that I shared link while more important is this info (anyway - in Polish only)

Project 350km news

There will be no podcast during the project, which is actually good for non Polish speakers.
Reason is quite basic - not enough power in carried equipment.

Project 350km - in english

Update in English as there was nothing in here.
Two guys from Survivaltech (Polish survival school) are planning to walk 350 km of Polish coast.
Sounds not interesting, but the way they are going is quite extraordinary.
Thing is NOT to get backpack, sleep in hotels, feed in restaurants.
They are planning to use disposable plastic bags to carry equipment and food.
They will get water from rivers.
They will sleep on a sea shore.
They are NOT planning to stop for shopping :)

Why ?
To show, that there is no need for all those expensive gear when you love some adventure.

When ?
Plan is to start on 9th of April  2013 from Świnoujście (just copy and paste into Google Maps)
And reach Hel on 18 of April.

(info for people who are not sure how to check on the map where it is,  there are no wild bears in northern Poland)

Project page is here: http://supertactical.pl/

If there will be no updates in English on project page - I'll update here

Z sieci / From the net

W kształcie przypomina to trochę rower wodny.
Tylko po co to komu ?

Very interesting thing, they made pontoon which fits to backpack.
I got no clue what can be the reason for such thing, you need to get some food, sleeping back, whatever.
Thing looks like pedalo.
But main question is - what for ?
